Oral Cancer Screenings

Dr. Neumeyer performs head and neck exams to check for any anatomical abnormalities. These exams are used to check for cancer, amongst many other disorders involving the head and neck area. Along with head and neck exams, Dr. Neumeyer evaluates the tissues in your mouth for cancer as well. Routine visits are important to catch any suspicious areas early on. Some high risk areas of oral cancer are: the floor of the mouth, the tongue, the soft palate/throat, and the lower lip. Some things that increase the risk of developing oral cancer are: tobacco and alcohol use, poor diet, excessive sun exposure, genetics, and history of HPV.
